Chapter 1: The Invasion

In the early hours of February 4, 2012, Whitley French awoke in her Reidsville, North Carolina home to find an intruder in her bedroom. The assailant, concealed by a mask, stepped on a creaky floorboard, rousing Whitley from her sleep. Terrified, she screamed as he attempted to silence her. In the ensuing struggle, the intruder inflicted a severe cut on her arm with a knife.

Whitley’s desperate cries echoed through the house, reaching her parents, Troy and LaDonna French, who were peacefully sleeping downstairs. As they rushed upstairs, they were met with a horrifying scene: the masked man now brandished a gun. In a tragic turn of events, he shot both parents before fleeing the scene.

In the wake of this horrifying incident, Whitley made an urgent 911 call, but despite her efforts, her parents succumbed to their injuries. With no witnesses and limited evidence, the case seemed destined to remain unsolved.
