Exploring My Medium Journey: Progress After Two Weeks
Written on
I embarked on my journey in the Medium Partner Program on November 20, and inspired by Carl Jeffers’s article, I wanted to share my own progress.
My Initial Two Weeks on Medium: Progress Overview
Joining the Medium Partner Program
I officially became a member of the Medium Partner Program on November 15, and here’s how my stats look:
After spending two weeks on X, which I found somewhat overwhelming, I decided to focus my efforts back on Medium.
My Statistics
Here are my stats after two weeks:
#### Views: 833
I observed that the stats page has undergone changes recently, and fortunately, I captured a screenshot on December 1.
While the old stats page was encouraging, the new one felt discouraging, leaving me uncertain about its accuracy. However, I aim to adapt swiftly to these changes.
#### Comments: 3 I received only three comments on my posts, which seems low. This suggests that my writing might not be clear or relatable enough for readers.
#### Stories Published: 18 I managed to publish 18 articles during my first two weeks. Initially, I aimed to maintain this pace, but my consistency waned as I divided my time between Medium and X, resulting in just six additional posts over the following two weeks.
#### Followers: 65
I joined Medium on November 10 and began posting daily. By the 15th, I was part of the Partner Program, and I gained 65 followers throughout November. Much of my growth stemmed from engaging with others' articles, a strategy I plan to elaborate on later.
Despite not being as consistent in posting, my goal was to reach 100 followers in my first month, and I achieved it through continuous commenting, which I believe contributed significantly to my follower growth.
#### Earnings I still remember the excitement of earning my first four cents on Medium—it was an enlightening moment in my content creation journey.
Only five days after joining the Partner Program, I felt great about this initial achievement, regardless of the small amount.
In my first 15 days on Medium, I earned $3.15. Although this isn’t enough to cover my membership for the first month, I have another 15 days to make up the difference.
Two weeks later, I wrote a post titled "A Month on Medium. I Broke Even. $5 Membership Cost, Still Exceed 0.09¢."
Reflections on Commenting
I believe many Medium writers and readers overlook the power of commenting. When I read something without commenting, it often indicates a lack of understanding or engagement on my part. However, commenting can help grow your following rapidly, especially if your posts aren’t getting many views.
Conclusion
I dedicated around 2–3 hours on days I posted and about 30 minutes daily for commenting. In total, I invested roughly 50 hours into my 18 posts, garnering 65 followers throughout November.
The aim of this article is to share my experiences and thoughts on scaling my efforts moving forward.
Thank you for reading to the end! If you’re putting in meaningful work, I hope this resonates with you. Many of us start from similar points, but our paths diverge based on the choices we make along the way.
As of today, I have received only five comments in total, indicating there’s much room for improvement. I look forward to hearing feedback from readers following this post.
Thank you, Bin.
