Chapter 1: The Importance of Lifelong Learning
How often do you engage in learning activities? Consider not just your own habits but those of your friends and family as well. Many of us tend to believe that our education concludes after college or university. We feel that we have acquired sufficient knowledge to navigate through life successfully.
However, this assumption is misleading. The universe is teeming with vast amounts of knowledge that cannot be fully encompassed by any one individual or institution. There is a treasure trove of information accessible online through various platforms, books, and courses that we can tap into at any moment.
But you might say, "I don’t have the time!" Are you certain about that? Take a moment to evaluate your phone usage. You could install an app to monitor your screen time or simply reflect on how often you find yourself scrolling through entertainment apps like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, or playing games.
It's likely that you spend a considerable amount of time on these platforms. Personally, I often find myself starting my day with YouTube, dedicating 20 to 30 minutes before I even get out of bed!
Remember, we have 12 to 14 hours each day available to us.
If we assume you sleep for 8 hours, that leaves you with 16 hours of awake time. Let’s break it down: if you spend 2 hours eating, 1 hour commuting, and another hour on essential tasks, you have 12 hours left.
Over a week, that totals to 84 hours. Now, can you allocate just 2 hours for reading? Absolutely! That’s less than 3% of your total time.
What if you dedicated another 2 hours to learn something new—be it a language, software, cooking, or any skill you’ve always wanted to master? This is still only an additional 3%. Plus, if you set aside just 1 hour for exercise weekly, that’s less than 2% of your time!
Take a moment to reflect on this: can you afford to invest this little amount of time in yourself? The most critical person in your life deserves this attention.
Do you wish to improve? To be more intelligent? To enhance your appearance, feelings, and actions? To evolve into the best version of yourself? If your answer is affirmative, take action today!
Manage your time wisely and create room for what truly matters. Prioritize activities that nourish both your body and mind.
Thank you!
As Seneca aptly stated, “It is not that we have a short time to live, but that we waste a lot of it. Life is long enough, and a sufficiently generous amount has been given to us for the highest achievements if it were all well invested.”
