However, with iOS 16's arrival, many users may feel compelled to upgrade to the iPhone 14. Apple has announced that iOS 16 will only support iPhone 8 and later models. This means devices like the iPhone 6s, first-generation iPhone SE, and iPhone 7 will not be able to run the new operating system. This decision creates an opportunity for Apple to entice more customers to upgrade to their latest flagship by discontinuing support for older models.

Pricing Strategy

According to Kuo, the iPhone 14 will likely maintain the same starting price of $799 as the iPhone 13. In contrast, the new iPhone 14 Max is projected to begin at $899 for a 128GB model. This pricing strategy helps Apple stay competitive in the market, especially since many other devices in this price range fail to deliver expected features.

When it comes to the iPhone 14 Pro, the situation is somewhat different. Due to new design elements and increased production costs, Apple may raise the price by at least $100, leading to a price tag of $1,099 compared to the iPhone 13 Pro's $999. The price for the iPhone 14 Pro could reach $1,199. This speculation aligns with Kuo's recent insights suggesting that Apple's revenue could see a 15% increase with the new iPhone launch.

Additionally, MacRumors has reported that the base model of the iPhone 14 Pro may start at 256GB. Given the new features, such as 8K and ProRes video capabilities, a minimum of 256GB storage is necessary. If this is true, the starting price for the iPhone 14 Pro will likely remain at $1,099 for the 256GB variant, similar to the iPhone 13 Pro's pricing. Many users may not see this as a dealbreaker, considering the extensive new features the iPhone 14 Pro will offer compared to the baseline model. However, from a business perspective, the increased production costs may not be sustainable for Apple in the long run.

Based on all available reports and leaks, it's reasonable to predict a robust demand for the iPhone 14 series. Despite the upcoming USB-C iPhone set for next year and potential price increases for the Pro models, consumers are eager to upgrade. Many users may not have replaced their devices in years, making this the perfect time for an upgrade.
